Discussion board # 1 Historically, movies were primarily created in Hollywood. Identify and discuss two factors that have assisted the dispersion of the movie sector to other parts of the world. Respond to post: For almost a century, the Hollywood film industry has dominated the global motion picture market. The geography of film production has, however, significantly changed in recent years, with various nations emerging as new centres for the industry. Globalisation and government incentives are two reasons that have helped the movie industry spread to other parts of the world. Globalisation is the first factor that has aided in the movie industry’s spread. The rise in connection brought about by globalisation has facilitated filmmakers’ access to new markets and consumers. Movies can now be disseminated globally without physical distribution channels because to the rise of digital platforms. This has increased the number of ways that filmmakers can connect with audiences outside of their own country and fueled the expansion of the global cinema industry. As a result of globalisation, many nations have opened their markets to foreign investment and improved the business environment for foreign filmmakers. A new generation of filmmakers has emerged as a result, able to produce material that appeals to both local and international viewers. For instance, Bollywood films, which are made in India, have gained popularity across the globe thanks to their distinctive fusion of Indian culture and universal appeal. Government incentives are the second aspect that has aided in the distribution of the film industry. Numerous governments throughout the world have put in place programmes to entice filmmakers to their nations after seeing the potential of the film industry as an engine of economic growth. Tax incentives, subsidies, and other forms of financial assistance are a few of these measures. For instance, Canada has put in place tax advantages that have made it a desirable location for movie production. For labour expenditures paid in Canadian industrial operations, the nation’s substantial tax credit programme offers a 30% refundable tax credit. As a result, Canada has developed a thriving film industry, with several Hollywood productions being filmed there. Similar to this, Australia has put in place a number of incentives to entice moviemakers to the nation. These incentives include money for regional shows as well as a tax credit of 16.5% for foreign productions. Due to these advantages, Australia has been a popular location for filming, with several high-profile productions recently taking place there. In conclusion, a number of factors, such as globalisation and governmental incentives, have made it easier for the movie industry to spread to various regions of the world. The movie industry is going to become even more fragmented as the world becomes more linked, with new players appearing in unexpected areas. This is wonderful news for movie fans everywhere since it implies that there will be more diversified content produced by directors from many ethnic backgrounds available to see.
