Your reading this week is about Earth’s energy budget. Answer each of the following questions and EXPLAIN YOUR REASONING using the concepts you learned about energy.

a. What would happen to the temperature of Earth’s atmosphere if Earth’s clouds became thicker, and doubled the rate with which the atmosphere reflects solar energy?

b. What would happen to the temperature of Earth’s atmosphere if the Earth’s land surfaces became covered in a thick layer of ice, doubling the rate with which the land surfaces reflect solar energy?

5c. What would happen to the temperature of Earth’s atmosphere if all of the ice on Earth’s land surfaces melted, cutting in half the rate with which the land surfaces reflect solar energy?
