Running head: GRID ASSIGNMENT DRAFT Grid Assignment Draft Shannon Walden University Policy & Advocacy for Improving Population Health HIV/AIDS has become a serious issue in the modern healthcare environment. Up to date, HIV/AIDS has no cure. This discussion will look at HIV/AIDS and how the various presidents of the US have addressed it. Specifically, the three presidents who will be discussed here are George W. Bush, Barrack Obama, and Donald Trump (Nicol, 2017). According to the WHO statistics, there are about 36.9 million people in the world living with HIV/AIDS. As a matter of fact, it is approximated that approximately 500 people get infected with AIDS every day. All the three presidents of the US did their best to ensure that the issue of HIV/AIDS infection is addressed effectively. During the time of George W. Bush, AIDS was not a big issue as it is today. It is during the time of Barrack of Obama and the current period when Trump is in power that HIV/AIDS has become a serious health condition (Scott, 2018). It is clear that all the presidents did their level best in enacting legislation meant to address the issue of HIV/AIDS. Trump has always collaborated with the WHO and other organizations to ensure that people are sensitized about AIDS, as well as ensuring that they gain medical access easily (Alcamo, 2018). Barrack Obama ensured that HIV/AIDS patients get access to better housing and improved living standards. George W. Bush ensured that the government agencies collaborated with other organizations in fighting AIDS. All the presidents have ensured that the HIV/AIDS victims led a better life while at the same time preventing the spread of the disease. The legislation that needs to be enacted to ensure that this issue is controlled effectively is centered on public education. Educating the public on how to practice safe sex as well as living a positive life free from stigma, in case of infection, is paramount. HIV/AIDS patients need to be given special treatment and attention. All this can be addressed through presidential legislation (Nicol, 2017). References Alcamo, I. (2018). AIDS in the modern world.
